Our Compassion Kids

 Last year during VBS, the kids collected money that we called Coins for Compassion.  The money that they raised went towards sponsoring 2 children for an entire year!  We have spent the last year building a relationship with our sponsor kids and we wanted you to meet them and know that this year we will be raising coins for compassion once again to support Maydarline and Simon for another year!  YAY!  It costs only $38 a month per child to sponsor them.  What do they get you ask?  Just $38 a month will change the future for your child, and your own life as well. Your child sponsorship makes possible a church-based program that provides:
  • Food and clean water
  • Medical care
  • Educational opportunities
  • A Bible in his or her native language
  • Life-skills training
Most important, your sponsored child will hear about Jesus Christ and be encouraged to develop a lifelong relationship with God.

Birthday:  May 17, 2001
Age:  11
School Performance:  She is attending school and is an average student.  She is in US grade equivalent of 4th grade.
Family Duties:  Carries Water, Kitchen help
Hobbies:  Group games, singing, listening to music
Guardian:  Mother
Natural Parents:  Never married - Father and Mother are alive
Mother is living and supporting Maydarline
Employment:  No father involved, Mother is at times employed - she is a farmer


Meet Simon Sawadogo
From:  Burkina Faso
Birthday:  July 14, 2003
Age:  8
School Performance:  He is attending school and is above average.  He is in US school equivalent of 2nd grade.  
Family duties:  Washing clothes and running errands
Hobbies:  Soccer/Football, bicycling, hide-and-seek, running
Guardians:  Mother and Father - married - both living with Simon
Employment:  Father is a laborer/mason and is employed sometimes.  Mother gathers sand for sale and is at times employed.

Meet the VBS team:
Courtney, Erin, and Becca

We have been diligently working together to make VBS as impactful as we can!  Our meetings contain alot of laughter, tears, and prayers as we try to seek ways to teach these precious children more about Jesus and how to live a life serving Him.  VBS has a special place in each of our hearts and we hope you enjoy the week as much as we have enjoyed the time spent planning it!  We love how the Holy Spirit orchestrates ideas in each of us and then they all intertwine and we can see exactly where God was leading us.  Yes, we do get a little excited and yell and make a scene when we realize how cool God's plans are for VBS, but we just can't contain ourselves!  So prepare yourself as you embark on VBS this year, because these kids are going to see how they can Let Love Come to Life!
